4 Things A Healthwick Customer Care Agent Wants You To Know

1. Incontinence is so normal.

While I didn't know much about the world of adult incontinence products at the time I joined the Healthwick team, I did know one thing already:

Incontinence is extremely normal.

Over half the population is likely to experience it at some point in their adult lives.

It is common, it is human, and unlike what some people believe it is more than possible to live a comfortable and clean lifestyle as someone who experiences incontinence.

I certainly can't erase all of the stigma or shame around adult incontinence that exists, but I can and do try my best to remind people that it is an utterly normal experience that lots of people are living with. 

At the end of the day it is one of the most common medical conditions in the world, and in my opinion those living with incontinence should be proud of acknowledging their needs and giving themselves the care they deserve.

That's something more people could stand to do, incontinent or not. 

2. Our client-base is (more) diverse (than you know).

When I say that incontinence is common, I'm not just blowing smoke!

I talk to a huge variety of people every day who are living with, caring for someone living with, or otherwise seeking support related to incontinence.

Here is a non-exhaustive list of reasons customers have shared with me on why they are seeking our products:

• Incontinence due to kidney/bladder injury

• Incontinence related to muscle weakness

• Incontinence due to nervous system/neurological injury

• Older child who is still potty training

• Wheelchair usage, making it difficult to access washrooms

• Other mobile impairment, making it difficult to make it to a washroom "in time"

• Incontinence related to prostate surgery

• Making a long trip without any washrooms to stop at

• Postpartum incontinence

• Athletic incontinence

As you can see, the above list represents people of all ages and from many walks of life, and that is just the beginning!

You never know who might or might not be living with incontinence - but you can be sure that if you are, you are not alone.

3. Knowing your measurements helps a lot.

As a matter of fact, knowing your measurements will be a key tool in picking an item that meets all your needs.

Much like clothing brands, there is no universal sizing between incontinence products.

This means one brand's Extra Large might be the same size as another brand's Large, which might be the same size as another brand's Medium.

Being aware of your hip & waist measurements will allow you to reference the sizing guide for each product and choose the right size for you.

Wearing something that fits securely is very important in preventing leakages and ensuring you can be comfortable all day and night.
