The official launch of Kimberly Clark's Poise Impressa Bladder Supports in the United States last month generated a tremendous amount of interest with Healthwick customers. The promise of a disposable hygiene product that didn't just catch little leaks but prevented them was just too compelling!

For those of you who haven't heard about Impressa bladder support yet, it's a small spongy device, similar to a tampon, which is inserted vaginally and which supports the bladder to prevent mild leaks.

Here at Healthwick, we've heard a lot about bladder supports - both anecdotally from customers and from Nurse Continence Advisors that we work with.

For example, customers have mentioned "When I wear a tampon, I don't have as many leaks." but they've admitted the solution isn't perfect.

Nurses, on the other hand, have helped to educate our staff on pessaries, a non-disposable device that is often used as a bladder support, but which require fitting from a healthcare provider.

So the big question is "Where can you buy the Poise Impressa in Canada?"

The short answer (and this is going to disappoint a lot of people) is you can't. Currently, it's not licensed for sale in Canada.

Fortunately, there's a Canadian alternative.

Uresta - the Canadian Alternative to Poise Impressa

Last month, our CEO attended the annual Nurse Next Door conference and learned about the Uresta - an simple and effective solution for light bladder leakage.

The Uresta was developed by Dr. Scott Farrell, a Canadian surgeon and professor at the Department of Obstetrics and Gyanecology at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Similar to the Impressa, the Uresta is inserted to support the bladder, but unlike the Impressa, it's eco-friendly and re-usable. And because it's manufactured in a range of sizes, it doesn't have to be fitted by a physician or nurse. The upfront cost for the Starter Kit (which gives you 3 sizes to try and you keep the one that works) is very economical when you consider that it lasts a whole year with proper care - much more affordable than the average monthly cost of pads or absorbent underwear. Plus, for a limited time, shipping is free.

In the National Review of Medicine, one long-time Uresta user said she noticed the difference immediately and now uses her pessary all the time. "It's comfortable — you don't even know it's there," she says. "And I don't have to buy those thick pads anymore!"

With all this in mind, we can't wait to hear what our customers think. The Uresta is now for sale at Healthwick.ca with FREE SHIPPING - click here to shop.
